The Fairer Sex
lawrencegullo:

Brotherhood used to be legendary.  But it has a ways to go in the neo-burlesque scene of today.  Most shows that I attend (or perform in) are greatly enjoyed by women of all sexualities, whether they are watching a man or a woman perform.  I have heard from many straight female friends that they adore seeing other women perform burlesque, because it makes them feel empowered, proud, and sexy.  They bring their boyfriends with them to shows, so they can be excited by the show together.
However - the last time I performed in a show which was part female and part male performers, some male audience members seemed extremely threatened/displeased by my presence on the stage.
Men - emancipate yourselves.  I challenge you, straight and bi men - go to a boylesque show and support your bros.  Enjoy the artistry, take pride in your own gender’s sexiness, and feel empowered, not threatened.  No one is asking you to salivate (unless you want to). Better yet - take your girlfriend.  She’ll be that much more excited to go home with you after a show celebrating manhood!

YES. Boys, be aware of male sexuality. You can change the whole thing about females being the “fairer sex” if you want...
